The People Behind the Process

45 years in Business Brokerage. 30 years exclusively in franchising. A carefully chosen team of associates. One unwavering commitment: getting your file approved on the first try.

Roger Noble — A Career Defined by One Specialty

"Your first application to the bank is your most important one. We don't get a second chance to make a first impression with an underwriter — so we don't leave anything to chance."

Roger Noble is the President and Broker of Record at FranMax Inc. (Brokerage), a practice he has led exclusively in the franchise industry for 30 years, and in Business Brokerage for more than 45 years. Over that career, he has managed transactions ranging from $35,000 to $181 million — always with the same underlying discipline: build the file correctly the first time, and let the work speak for itself.

That discipline is not incidental. It is the product of four decades of watching what separates approved files from declined ones. In Roger's experience, the difference almost never comes down to the borrower's creditworthiness or the viability of the franchise. It comes down to how well the application was prepared — and whether the person who built it understood what a bank underwriter actually needs to see.

What the record shows

Roger's practice has produced results that speak plainly to the value of specialization. In one engagement spanning a decade, FranMax completed disposition transactions for more than 180 stores within a single Canadian franchise system — arranging buyer financing for each transaction. More recently, FranMax achieved a 100% financing success rate for 70 clients opening new locations for a Canadian startup franchise company. These are not outcomes that happen by accident. They are the product of a process refined over 30 years of working exclusively in this industry.

Education and professional standing

Roger holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of Calgary (non-practising) and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Economics, also from the University of Calgary. The legal training is not merely a credential — it directly shapes how FranMax approaches Franchise Disclosure Documents, assesses associate liability exposure, and constructs financing packages that hold up to underwriter scrutiny.

Roger is a CFA Support Services Member (Canadian Franchise Association), and is registered under TRESA in Ontario as Broker of Record of FranMax Inc. (Brokerage). He is also a member of CREA, OREA, and TRREB.

"I've spent 30 years watching good people with viable franchise plans get turned down because of how their files were presented — not because of who they were or what they were buying. FranMax exists to close that gap."

Who refers to FranMax — and why

FranMax's client base arrives primarily through referral. Franchisors refer their prospective franchisees because they know FranMax's process produces bank-ready applications that move quickly through credit approval — which means faster openings and fewer deal failures. Chartered bank lenders and commercial mortgage professionals refer clients when they receive files that need to be rebuilt to a higher standard. Law firms refer clients when a transaction involves disclosure complexity, associate liability exposure, or resale structure that requires a franchise-specific lens. And a substantial portion of FranMax's clients are repeat customers, or referrals from former clients who have experienced the process firsthand.

The Canadian Franchise Association's network has been a consistent source of introductions over the years — a reflection of the respect FranMax's work commands within the franchise community.

A personal approach — always

Roger works personally on every file. Not through associates, not through junior brokers. The person who answers the phone is the person who has read your FDD, structured your financing package, and will be accountable for the outcome. In a field where files routinely get handed off, that directness is unusual — and consistently valued by the clients, lawyers, and lenders who work with FranMax.

FranMax serves clients across Canada. While registered in Ontario under TRESA, franchise financing and advisory services are provided nationally. Initial consultations are available by phone or email and are always confidential.

The Team

Associates

FranMax operates as a deliberately curated practice. The associates who support each engagement are selected for specific expertise — legal research, regulatory familiarity, case management, and analytical capability — and work under the direct supervision of Roger Noble.

Two members of the broader associate team are introduced here. Others contribute to FranMax files in ways that reflect their own professional preferences for discretion, and their contributions are no less valued for their anonymity.

Noel Noble, Associate at FranMax Inc. (Brokerage)

Noel Noble

Associate — Legal Research & Legislative Affairs

Noel holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) and a Master of Arts from the University of Ottawa, and is currently pursuing his law degree at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.

His professional background includes managing sensitive files within federal government departments and direct communications with the House of Commons — environments where precision, confidentiality, and navigating complex institutional processes are not optional.

Noel contributes to FranMax engagements through legal research, his developing fluency in Canada's legislative and regulatory landscape, and a methodical approach to file analysis that complements the practice's standards. Outside the office, he is an avid long-distance cyclist, weightlifter, and camping enthusiast.

Alexandria Torrillo, JD, Associate at FranMax Inc. (Brokerage)

Alexandria Torrillo, JD

Associate — Legal Research & Case Management

Alexandria holds a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Management). During law school she served as Head Researcher of the Moot Team, developing the legal research and analytical capability that now anchors her contributions to FranMax files.

She brings more than five years of paralegal experience spanning law firms in the Philippines and Australia, with a practice covering legal drafting, case management, research, and administrative support across multiple areas of law. That cross-jurisdictional background translates directly into the multi-province complexity that Canadian franchise transactions regularly present.

Outside her professional work, Alexandria is a competitive triathlete and lifelong swimmer who has coached competitive swimming — a discipline, she notes, that requires exactly the same combination of technical preparation and composure under pressure that good legal work demands.

The FranMax associate network extends beyond those introduced here. All associates work under the direct supervision of Roger Noble, Broker of Record, and are engaged in strict confidence in accordance with FranMax's Privacy & Security Policy.
